Heavy equipment transport

Tractors, skid steers, excavators, and other machinery, moved on the right trailer for the load. Quoted by phone.

What we move

Farm tractors, sprayers, balers, and implements. Skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, dozers, and wheel loaders. Forklifts, scissor lifts, and trenchers. If it has an engine and a serial plate, there is a trailer for it.

Matching the trailer to the machine

  • Hotshot. A heavy pickup with a gooseneck trailer. Quick to schedule and well suited to compact equipment.
  • Flatbed. The general-purpose trailer for machines that can be lifted or driven up ramps.
  • Step deck. A lower rear deck that gives taller machines the clearance they need under bridges.
  • Lowboy or removable gooseneck. The front detaches so heavy tracked or wheeled machines can drive straight on.

Size, weight, and permits

A load up to eight and a half feet wide, about thirteen and a half feet tall on the trailer, and within normal weight limits travels without special paperwork. Past any of those, it is an oversize or overweight load. The carrier applies for permits in each state, follows an approved route, and sometimes travels only in daylight or with an escort. That adds cost and lead time, so the sooner we know the true dimensions, the better.

What we need for a quote

  • Make and model
  • Length, width, height, and weight, including attachments
  • Whether it runs and drives
  • How it will be loaded and unloaded: a dock, ramps, or lifting equipment at each end
  • The two addresses, and what the ground is like at each

Getting a machine ready

  • Clean off heavy mud so tie-down points are visible.
  • Remove or pin attachments, and lower buckets, booms, and blades.
  • Latch cab doors and cover the exhaust stack so the turbo does not spin in the wind.
  • Run the fuel down and disconnect the battery if the machine will sit.
  • Have the key and any special starting instructions ready for the driver.

What the loading site needs

Firm, level ground and room for a truck and trailer that can be more than 70 feet long. Someone has to be on hand who can run the machine onto the trailer, unless you have arranged for the driver to do it. For a machine that does not run, there must be a way to lift or winch it at both ends.

Common questions

Can you move equipment that does not run?

Yes. Tell us exactly what works. A dead machine needs a winch, a crane, or a forklift at pickup and delivery, and that has to be arranged in advance.

Who handles the permits?

The carrier obtains oversize and overweight permits for the route, and the cost is built into your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

A few days is enough for compact equipment on a hotshot. Oversize loads need a week or more for permits and routing.

Do you move farm equipment during harvest?

Yes, but trailers are in demand then. Call as early as you can.
